Talking Star Trek and Kid Knight

farragutanimated_openingOne of the best things about working on the Start Trek: Year Four comics was meeting many of the television show’s fans. A highlight of which was meeting the creators of the Starship Farragut fan film series. These guys go the extra light year. Not only are the effects, sets and stories consistent with the original series, these guys went so far as to create ANIMATED episodes featuring their crew done in the same style as the Filmation Star Trek animated series. Just terrific.

John Broughton, the Starship Farragut’s Captain Jack Carter, and I chatted briefly about Star Trek and The Kid Knight on his blog: mycaptainsblog.com

The Kid Knight, Draco, Leo and Ursa Major

This shows the final black-and-white design for The Kid Knight’s armor as well as the latest versions of Draco, Leo and Ursa Major. When the piece is colored, the constellations – as well as the kid’s sword and shield – will have special effects added as seen in the color artwork at the top of the site. — Steve

Preliminary design

This was an early version of The Kid Knight’s armor and the villain’s overall look as well. The thinking at the time was that the villain’s armor was more organic and grown – like a crab shell. I dropped that pretty quickly.
